Key features of the Barcelona GSE experience

Academic excellence

Barcelona GSE currently offers Masters in Economics and Finance and related fields, which give students the analytical skills and specialized knowledge for a wide variety of career opportunities in regulatory agencies, international economic institutions, corporations, and academia, among others.

The Barcelona GSE Scientific Council advises the School and ensures the quality of its programs. It is made up of 30 leading international academics, including 10 Nobel laureates in Economics.

World-class faculty

Barcelona GSE's main asset is its faculty, made up of Affiliated Professors and Guest Professors, which include renowned scholars from other universities as well as prominent practitioners. All of our academic faculty hold PhDs - the majority from universities in the US or UK - as do the vast majority of the practitioners teaching in the School.

A vibrant, exceptional academic community

Barcelona GSE's academic community includes its founding academic bodies:  the Department of Economics and Business of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, the Unit of Economic Analysis of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, IAE-CSIC, and CREI. Grouped together under the auspices of the Barcelona GSE Research Network, their combined output of economic research ranks second in Europe. They also bring some of the biggest names in economics to Barcelona to deliver lectures, give seminars, and speak at a variety of different types of events. Past speakers have included John Nash, William Prescott, Hugo Sonnenschein, and Reinhard Selten.

Outstanding international students

The Barcelona GSE has rigorous admissions standards and seeks the best and brightest students from all over the world. In the class of 2009 83% of students were from abroad, 62% were from the European Union and there were students from every continent. The quality and diversity of our students ensures that they learn not only from their professors, but from each other.

All of the Barcelona GSE Masters in Economics and Finance are taught entirely in English.

The city of Barcelona

With an exceptional quality of life due to its coastal location, Mediterranean climate, delicious food, and rich history and culture, Barcelona is an enjoyable place to get your master. Its large university community and increasing specialization in economic research is rapidly making it a major European knowledge center and economic research cluster.
