| Biography: |
| Jordi Isern is the director and founder of the Catalan Institute for Space Studies (IEEC). He is currently a research professor for the Higher Council of Scientific Research (CSIC). |
|
| Professional affiliations: |
| Dr. Isern is a member of the Catalan Physics Society, the Spanish Astronomical Society, the European Astronomical Society, and the American Astronomical Society. He was the co-editor of Europhysics Letters from 1992 to 1997. |

| Gamma rays, supernovas, white dwarfs, chemical composition of the galaxy |
