 Biography:

Prof. Ribas is ICREA Research Professor in the Gene Translation Laboratory at IRB Barcelona (Institute for Research in Biomedicine). He has held positions at the Scripps Research Institute and MIT. He was also the coordinator of MEPHITIS, an EU-funded research consortium and the editor of the book "The genetic code and the origin of life" (2005) Plenum Press, New York, USA.

Prof. Ribas holds two patents, "A screening method for identifying new aminoacyl-tRNA syntehtase inhibitors" (2007) and "A screening method fro identifying new drugs" (2007).

 Research interests:

proteome quality control in cell biology and disease, structure-function studies of protein-RNA interactions, biomedicine and biotechnology
