 Biography:

Francesc Gňdia is full professor of chemical engineering at the Universitat Autňnoma de Barcelona.

He is one of the founders of the spin-off company HEXASCREEN Culture Technologies, focused on the development of a platform of minibioreactors for screening in Biotechnology.

 Professional affiliations:

Professor Gódia has been a member of the executive committee of the European Society of Animal Cell Technology since 1999 and a member of the executive board of the European Federation of Biotechnology since 2005. He was president of the Spanish Society for Biotechnology from 2002 to 2006.

 Research interests:

Professor Gňdia's research focuses on Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering, specifically on the culture of mammalian cells for the production of proteins with interest in diagnostic and therapy of diseases, and cellular, metabolic and tissue engineering. He is also working on the development of industrial fermentation processes, immobilized biocatalysts, bioreactor design, and the development of biological life support systems in Space.
