| Jeff Skinner is currently the director of corporate relations at University College London. In this role he is responsible for all commercial outreach activities –in particular building strategic research relationships with major technology-intensive businesses and consortia focused around UCL’s major research strengths.
Prior to assuming this role he was director of UCL Business, building and running the teams responsible for promoting and transacting commercial activity at UCL, including technology transfer (IP protection, licensing and spin-outs), business development, research contract negotiation and consultancy
He started at UCL in 1990 as the first member of UCL Ventures, one of the first university technology transfer units in the UK to pro-actively encourage and nurture spin-out companies. Since then he has been actively involved in over 30 such spin-outs, many of them venture-capital backed. He founded and is director of the university's Biomedical Seed Fund, and a director of the Entrepreneurship Centre and London Technology Networks, both joint ventures with the London Business School. |
