02/03/2010 Recruiters from OECD, Frontier Economics, NERA Economic Consulting, Neo Metrics, and Oxera come to campus to meet Barcelona GSE students Last week the Barcelona GSE held two job recruiting events on campus that put students in direct contact with representatives of international economics consultancies and development organizations. One of the events was the Barcelona GSE Consulting Day, with recruiting presentations from Frontier Economics, NERA Economic Consulting, Neo Metrics, and Oxera economic consultancies. The other event was a presentation by Oscar Villarreal, Head of Recruitment for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), who came from Paris to speak with students about the organization's Young Professionals Program and about a new traineeship program that will be available for Barcelona GSE students. Students from all six of the Barcelona GSE master programs attended both events. Technical know-how and team-oriented attitudeNearly 80 students attended the OECD session, with students from in the audience. Mr. Villarreal gave students an overview of the traineeship program, currently available to students from just five institutions in Spain. As Mr. Villarreal explained in his recruiting presention, OECD trainees must be current students or recent graduates with the technical know-how to perform in OECD areas such as Economics, Tax Policy, Development, Finance, Innovation, Employment, Statistics, or Trade. In addition, they must have either English or French language skills and a team-oriented attitude. Potential trainees will be identified and recommended to the OECD by the Barcelona GSE. Once selected to participate, trainees will be matched with short-term projects (about three to six months in length) based on their competencies and experience.
