Eye on Alumni Toni Anhert Country: Germany Program: Msc Economics 2008 Currently: London School of Economics PhD How did your time spent at the Barcelona GSE prepare you for entry into a top PhD program? I am currently pursuing a PhD in Economics, and the MSc in Economics at the Barcelona Graduate School in Economics was a splendid preparation for this. I benefitted tremendously from both the conceptual comprehension and the technical rigor of the MSc, which helped me to smooth the transition from the Master level to the PhD level. It was a very special feeling to be taught by some of the most prominent scholars in their respective fields. The general atmosphere was very cooperative and I have not only met many bright fellow students but also made several good friends.
Although it was certainly a rather demanding year full of hard work, it was also a thrilling experience to live in one of the greatest cities on this planet! Ambrogio Cesa Bianchi Country: Italy Program: Msc Economics 2008 Currently: Inter American Development Bank (Washington) What did your internship at Banc Sabadell entail? The Master of Science in Economics offered me the opportunity to work as an intern in the “Macroconomics and Fixed Income Department” of Banc de Sabadell. The period I spent at Banc de Sabadell was extremely useful and interesting, as I could apply on the field my academic knowing. In fact, working side by side with experienced and high qualified economists, I learned to analyze and understand markets; to interpret everyday-life events with an economic perspective; to select and process the multitude of information provided by newspapers, Bloomberg, Reuters and brokers’ reports. I carried out both theoretical and practical analysis concerning macroeconomics and finance and, whenever needed, help was not far away.
In conclusion, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend such an experience in an organization like Banc de Sabadell and be part of it.
