"Outside the classroom, Barcelona GSE faculty never hesitated in taking time to give career advice or share their personal take on the world of economics."

Max Bode '11

Country of Origin: Germany

Undergraduate School: University of Maastricht

Current Position: Research Fellow, Harvard University

Master in International Trade, Finance and Development

"I am a Research Fellow at Evidence for Policy Design (EPoD), a research program within Harvard's Center for International Development. All of our projects are conducted abroad, and thus the job is an exciting mix of microeconomic policy design, econometric analysis and fieldwork. The International Trade, Finance and Development master program prepared me very well for this job, as I apply the skills I learned in class every day. Also, outside the classroom, the faculty at the Barcelona GSE never hesitated in taking time to give career advice or share their personal take on the world of economics." - Max Bode '11

"The Barcelona GSE master degree gave me important tools to analyze cases and face real world problems in my work."

Thiago Arashiro '10

Country of Origin: Brazil

Undergraduate School: University of São Paulo

Current Position: Economist, Tendências Consultoria Integrada (São Paulo)

Master in Competition and Market Regulation

"I was hired right after graduating from the Barcelona GSE master. As an economist, my work involves econometric analysis to support companies during their merger process, advising companies against a complaint of anti-competitive practices in the competition authority, or any case related to competition policy. The projects I like the most here at Tendências involve merger cases for which Prof. Massimo Motta's classes became indispensible to move forward in the analysis. In this sense the Barcelona GSE master degree gave me important tools to analyze cases and face real world problems in my work. The highly practical focus of the master program gave us good knowledge to perform this type of challenging analysis." - Thiago Arashiro '10

"Studying at the Barcelona GSE gives you great confidence to be a professional or academic economist."

Rebecca Springford '10

Country of Origin: England

Undergraduate School: University of Essex

Current Position: Assistant Economist, UK Department for Work and Pensions

Master in Economics

"Studying at the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics gives you a sense that you really know what’s going on in economics and gives you great confidence to be a professional or academic economist. Embrace the challenge, push yourself, and enjoy the sun! I'd love to visit Barcelona again for the great music festivals which the city is famous for. Unfortunately I missed them this year getting acquainted with the library!" - Rebecca Springford '10
