Economics a la carte: Summer School at Barcelona GSE

The fifth edition of the Barcelona GSE Summer Schools offered a full menu of short courses in June and July 2011 designed to satisfy a variety of professional and academic appetites.

Banking, Microeconometrics, and Labor Economics

The Summer Schools in Economics have become a staple of the Barcelona GSE summer experience, and this year 257 participants from 41 countries participated in one or more of the short courses in the three tracks on offer:

The international student body comes from a variety of educational backgrounds, and the majority are professionals holding at least a master degree. A considerable number also hold PhDs.

Now in its second edition, Labor Economics is the newest summer school track. This year enrollment in the track has doubled and includes three participants of the inaugural 2010 Labor Economics Summer School who have returned to take additional courses in the track.

Among all three summer tracks, 16 participants from the 2010 edition of Barcelona GSE Summer Schools returned to build on the courses they took last year.

Several alumni of the Barcelona GSE master programs and reference PhD programs also joined the Summer School courses, so there were many familiar faces on campus even after the GSE’s master programs graduation ceremony on July 7.
