BSE staff members complete 100km Oxfam Trailwalker team challenge

On April 18 and 19, members of the BSE administration participated in the Oxfam Trailwalker challenge in Girona. The Trailwalker is a team walking event that takes place in countries around the world and raises donations for Oxfam Intermón's actions against poverty and injustice.
The Girona Trailwalker is just over 100km long and follows the "Via Verda," a beautiful hiking route that begins in the Pyrenees mountains and ends on the Costa Brava seashore. Teams have 32 hours to complete the challenge, but the BSE team walked through the night and completed the entire walk in less than 25 hours, finishing 141st out of 376 teams.

More importantly than their impressive finishing time, the BSE was one of 248 teams to have all four members complete the entire challenge. This was made possible by months of physical preparation for the athletes and also by their support team, which included members of the BSE administration as well as friends and family. The support team met the walkers at every checkpoint with food, supplies, and encouragement to keep them moving toward the finish line.

The BSE team raised 1,500€ in donations for Oxfam Intermón. A total of more than 770,000€ was raised by all teams that participated in the event.
The entire BSE staff congratulates the School's team and is very proud of their accomplishment. Although they are still celebrating and recovering from their efforts, the team is enthusiastic about the possiblity of joining the Trailwalker challenge again next year.
