Global Health Leadership Forum 2011

GHLF 2011

From July 17-21, the BSE hosted the Global Health Leadership Forum (GHLF) at the Ciutadella campus (UPF). Senior health executives from Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and North America participated in this intense week-long continuing education program. This is the eighth edition of the GHLF and the third hosted by the BSE.

Collaboration with Berkeley School of Public Health

The GHLF was created by the UPF Center for Research in Health and Economics (CRES) and the UC Berkeley School of Public Health for the purpose of bringing together senior executives of nations (health ministers or senior policy leaders, legislators and regulators), senior executives of organizations (e.g. World Bank, OECD, PAHO) and senior executives of companies (insurance, pharmaceutical, health care delivery, care management) to share best practices, know-how, and the latest research in the field. Participants attend two one-week sessions held six months apart (one in Barcelona and one in Berkeley) that combine case studies, seminars, workshops, field excursions. Each participant also prepares and presents an individual project.

Including speakers and participants, 39 senior health executives participated in this year's edition of the GHLF. They included 20 internationally reknowned speakers that work in diverse health related areas such as health economics, insurance, policy, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology.
