Research Partnerships

In addition to consolidating the research activities of its academic units, the Barcelona School of Economics cultivates research partnerships with other public and private institutions in order to leverage its research community's knowledge for increased impact in academia and society.

Innovation Growth Lab (IGL)

logoIn 2020, the Barcelona School of Economics and the Barcelona City Council signed an agreement with the Innovation Growth Lab (IGL) to create a new IGL office hosted at BSE. This office facilitates scientific cooperation between the BSE research community and the IGL team.

IGL is a global laboratory for innovation and growth policy developed by Nesta (UK). As a host city for IGL's research based on experiments and randomized controlled trials (RCTs), Barcelona will continue to strengthen its reputation as a hub for cutting-edge science in Europe.

Established in 2013, IPEG is the result of a joint collaboration between Universitat Pompeu Fabra, the Barcelona School of Economics, and “la Caixa” Foundation, with the support of the Government of Catalonia.

IPEG is a research center that focuses on the interaction between politics (political regimes and institutions, political order and conflict, the aggregation of preferences and interests) and economics (development, the economic cycle, redistribution and welfare).

In addition to producing and distributing research with international impact, IPEG’s strategic objectives include fostering greater integration among various parts of the social sciences in Barcelona, particularly among political science, economics, sociology and history.

World Wellbeing Panel (WWP)

The panel launched in 2016 as part of the Wellbeing Program at the LSE Center for Economic Performance (CEP). In 2020, directorship of the WWP passed to Ada Ferrer-i-Carbonell (IAE-CSIC and BSE).

The project is an international partnership between the Barcelona School of Economics, the London School of Economics, Queensland University of Technology, and Victoria University Wellington.
