After the theoretical training at BSE I chose to take on a more practical approach to Finance. Working as a Business Analyst for BearingPoint, I have already gotten valuable hands-on experience on various projects. Everyday day is different from the last, but this is part of the management consulting business. The diverse tasks range from PMO activities to analyzing and structuring deliverables for which I am in the lead, conducting workshops and communicating with the client's management. An efficient and sound communication is key to most activities.

Currently, a lot of projects deal with regulatory reporting and regulatory changes (e.g. EBA frameworks) within the financial services industry. I have requested to take on more risk projects in the next months (for example looking at liquidity risk which I researched and wrote on for the BSE Master Project together with our Master Project team). Moreover, I will participate in the practice development for operational risk. This is an exciting and enriching environment with a lot of growth potential and I have learned a lot so far till this day.

For my daily work, I found the Risk Management, Financial Econometrics as well as the FIM & Systemic Risk courses the most useful and enriching. Moreover, I think that the workload and rigorous analytical training experience at BSE prepared me well to take on any endeavor in my future.

Career update: Manuel is now a Consultant at Simon-Kucher & Partners in Vienna, Austria.
