Vicente Ortún

UPF and BSE

Vicente Ortún is Emeritus Professor amd former Dean of the School of Economic and Business Sciences at University Pompeu Fabra and a BSE Affiliated Professor. He is a founder and member of the Center for Research in Economics and Health (CRES), distinguished with the UPF board's Knowledge Transfer Prize.

He has an MBA from ESADE (1969), Master of Science from Purdue University (1970), BA and PhD in Economics from the University of Barcelona (1990). He did his doctoral studies in Public Health at Johns Hopkins University and was Visiting Scholar (2009) in the Department of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Professor Ortún has business and public policy experience at regional, national and international levels previous to joining UPF at its foundation in 1990. He is a former president of the Spanish Society of Public Health and Health Administration (SESPAS), former president of the Association of Health Economics (AES), former secretary of the European Public Health Association (EUPHA) and merit member of CAMFiC.
