Lluís Saurí is an Economist at the Chief Economist Team of the Directorate General for Competition (European Commission). Prior to joining the European Commission in 2013, he was economic adviser at the UK Competition Commission (currently the Competition and Markets Authority) and economic consultant at Charles River Associates in London.
He has worked in merger control, antitrust enforcement and state aid control, with a focus on pharmaceuticals and energy sectors. He has advised on the economic assessment of a number of prominent pharma-related cases, including pay-for-delay and parallel trade. He has provided advice on the regulation of pharmaceutical markets, especially concerning pricing & reimbursement and generic competition, as well as on business strategy and market access for pharmaceutical companies.
Lluís Saurí graduated in Economics at the University of Barcelona, holds a Master in Economics from the London School of Economics and obtained his PhD in Economics at the European University Institute.
