Before joining the Data Science program, I graduated with a BSc in Economics from the University of Munich. After finishing the program, I stayed at UPF to work as a research assistant with professors Papaspiliopoulos and Montalvo. Thereafter, I spent a year working as a Data Scientist in Telefonica's product development division. I recently resigned from that position to join a PhD program. I'm a full time PhD student at the department of statistics and probability of the University of Warwick.

With hindsight, I think that more than anything the program encouraged us to move to the edge of our comfort zone. I came in as a generic economics graduate, and four years later, I'm doing research in applied probability. In the meantime, I've worked with statistics professors, computer scientists, software engineers and product managers, each time taking a step away from what I was already confident in doing. I believe that the program helped to instill that mentality by taking the students and the material seriously. That entails letting students struggle occasionally - eventually their confidence grows, and with hardship comes friendship.
