The workshop will take place on June 12, 2019 in Barcelona. This workshop is jointly organized by the Barcelona GSE, the Centre de Recerca en Economia Internacional (CREI) and the Institute of Political Economy and Governance (IPEG). It aims at creating an annual European meeting of top researchers in political economy within the framework of the Barcelona GSE Summer Forum. It is a continuation of the ones organized in 2013-18 under the same title, which counted with the participation of prominent scholars from all around the world, including Gustavo Bobonis (Toronto), Katherine Casey (Stanford), Ernesto Dal Bò (U.C. Berkeley), Allan Drazen (Maryland), Georgy Egorov (Northwestern), Claudio Ferraz (PUC Rio), Matthew Gentzkow (Stanford), Antonio Merlo (Pennsylvania), Tommaso Naniccini (Bocconi), Rohini Pande (Harvard), Daniele Paserman (BU), Mattias Polborn (Vanderbilt), Mark Rosenzweig (Yale) and James Snyder (Harvard), among others.
We encourage the submission of empirical and theoretical papers from economics and political science.
The workshop will run for one day and feature six or seven papers, including invited presentations. Each presentation will last for an hour, including comments from a discussant and the audience. Participants are welcome to stay for other workshops that will take place during the week, particularly the workshop on Political Institutions (June 13-14).
