Organizational Economics

The workshop will run for 1 day and will take place on June 15, 2020 in Barcelona.

Organizational Economics uses economic modeling and empirical analysis, combined with a deep understanding of legal and political institutions, to understand the performance, design, and governance of organizations, including fundamental topics such as the boundaries of firms, coordination and motivation systems, relational contracting, and the role of managers. Deeply inspired by the scholarship of Nobel laureates Ronald Coase, Oliver Williamson, Bengt Holmstrom, and Oliver Hart, organizational economics is emerging as one of the leading fields in the discipline, with dedicated PhD courses and seminar series in top universities such as MIT, Northwestern, and LSE, a working group and dedicated workshop series at the NBER and at the CEPR, a prestigious scientific society (Society for Institutional and Organizational Economics, or SIOE, www.sioe.org), and an influential Handbook edited by Robert Gibbons and John Roberts.

We will welcome empirical and theoretical submissions of frontier research in all of the current topics of this field. We invite submissions from experienced researchers as well as promising young scholars in the field. A non-exhaustive list of relevant topics is: Relational contracts; Theory of the Firm; Incomplete Contracts; Internal Organization and Incentive Systems; Management practices, Leadership and Organizational Culture; Business Law and Economics.
