The workshop will take place on June 13-14, 2019 in Barcelona. This workshop is jointly organized by the Barcelona GSE, the Institute of Political Economy and Governance (IPEG) and the Centre de Recerca en Economia Internacional (CREI). It aims at creating an annual European meeting of top researchers in political economy within the framework of the Barcelona GSE Summer Forum. It is a continuation of the one organized in 2014-18 under the same title, which counted with the participation of prominent scholars from all around the world, including Alberto Bisin (NYU), Robin Burgess (LSE), Christian Dippel (UCLA), Allan Drazen (Maryland), Oeindrila Dube (Chicago), Georgy Egorov (Northwestern) Tarek Hassan (Chicago), Brian Knight (Brown University), Massimo Morelli (Bocconi), Benjamin Olken (MIT), Camilo Garcia-Jimeno (Penn), Imran Rasul (UCL), Jonathan Rodden (Stanford), Kenneth Scheve (Stanford), Jacob Shapiro (Princeton), James Snyder (Harvard), Adam Szeidl (CEU) and Hans-Joachim Voth (Zurich), among others.
We encourage the submission of empirical and theoretical papers from economics and political science.
The workshop will run for two days and feature ten to twelve papers, including invited presentations. Each presentation will last for an hour, including comments from a discussant and the audience. Participants are welcome to stay for other workshops that will take place during the week, particularly the workshop on the Economic Analysis of Electoral Politics (June 12).
