Class profile for the 10th cohort of BSE masters students
The Class of 2017 brings together 217 students from 55 countries.
The 2016-17 edition of the BSE master’s degrees is 85% international (41% of the class comes from outside Europe). The male-to-female ratio is 3:2, and the average age of the students is 25.
Countries with the most students in the programs are Spain (32), Italy (27), Germany (15), United States (12), United Kingdom (9).
Strong quantitative academic background
Most students (72%) have undergraduate degrees in Economics or Finance. Around 10% have academic backgrounds in quantitative subjects such as Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics. Others come from Political Science, Business Administration, and a variety of other backgrounds.
Work experience
As in years past, there is a diverse mix of prior work experience among the students. Many students entered the master this year with one year or less of professional experience, coming directly from their undergraduate programs. Others had between and and five years of experience, while some have worked five years or more before returning to graduate study.

Welcome events for the new students
In September the traditional Welcome Day for all news students was held at Bellaterra Campus. The event included human castles, advice from Macroeconomics alum Gabor Malatinszky '16, and remarks by BSE Director Teresa Garcia-Milà and members of the staff.
