Summertime in Barcelona offers a multitude of rewards. Chief among them is the Barcelona GSE Summer School program, with courses in economics, finance, and number of related fields. Renowned academics and leading practitioners present Summer School courses, drawing together participants from all background for intensive, one-week seminars combining theory and practice.

Our summer programs are geared to address the needs of researchers, professionals, and graduate students alike who are looking to improve their competences in specific fields of knowledge. Courses are perfect for busy experts and consultants in the workforce who may not have the time to undertake extensive academic terms but are still interested in sharpening their skills. PhD and other post-graduate students will also benefit by being able to discuss the latest developments in theories and theses face-to-face with prominent researchers from around the world.

Scholarship Opportunities

The UniCredit & Universities Foundation Summer School Programme offers scholarships in the amount of €1,500 to attend Barcelona GSE Summer School courses. Applications for next year will open in the fall.

Scholarship conditions and application

Language and Location

All Summer School seminars are taught in English.

Barcelona Economics Summer Schools are presented at Barcelona GSE Ciutadella facilities located within the University Pompeu Fabra (UPF) Ciutadella campus. The campus is located in downtown Barcelona, within walking distance of both the beach and the city's financial, cultural, and governmental centers. See the map for more detail.

Registration Process
  • Application Period Begins: February 2017
  • Application Deadline: June 2017
  • After May 30, registration may not be guaranteed

Capacity of the courses is limited. Some courses may close before May 30 on depending on demand.

Applications will be evaluated by the Barcelona GSE's Program Directors, and candidates will be informed of their acceptance decision on a rolling basis.

At the conclusion of the Summer School program, participants will receive a certificate for the number of hours attended. Interested students should check with their universities to see if these hours are transferable into ECTS credits.

All summer courses require an average of double the lecture hours for readings, projects, and class preparation.
