Jose García-Montalvo (UPF and BSE)

José García-Montalvo (UPF and BSE) has been awarded the "Premi Catalunya d'Economia" by the Catalan Economic Society, a section of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans. He received the prize for his work "Política de precios públicos y eficacia del sistema de becas en Catalunya," published by the Department of Economy and Knowledge of the Government of Catalonia.

The study offers a technical, in-depth analysis of the impact of a sliding scale for university fees applied in Catalonia since 2012 in comparison to the previously existing system. It is a unique study internationally in terms of the combination of a huge amount of information, the level of detail of the research, and the statistical techniques used.
